Ranger Challenge Team

The ranger challenge team consists of a main roster of nine cadets and three alternates making it a total of twelve cadets. Although the training is intense and fast-paced, it offers lots of chances for friendship, leadership development, and personal development.

This is in preparation for the team's three-day competition that is held on a non-tactical course. Cadets are challenged by their mental and physical fortitude, to help them grow as leaders, and promote teamwork.

Color Guard

Being a part of the Color Guard makes you an outward representative of Army ROTC. At university and community events, the Color Guard participates in formal drill and ceremonial tasks.

The Color Guard members rehearse drill and rituals, proper uniform attire, and appropriate methods to appreciate our country's flag.

Turkey Bowl

Before Thanksgiving break, St. John's University ROTC plays a friendly football game against Hofstra's ROTC cadets.

This is an annual event we call the "Turkey Bowl". Cadets participate by playing and supporting their peers along the sidelines, boosting morale; and enhancing professional relationships with cadets from other programs.

12 Mile Ruck

Each year in spring the Red Storm Battalion completes a 12 miler ruck march to the Freedom Tower while crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. This is the culminating event for all cadets and one we look forward to completing each year.

Special Events Committee

The Special Events Committee is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing various special events and activities for the cadets in the program.

These events are designed to enhance the cadets' training and development, build camaraderie and esprit de corps, and showcase ROTC to the wider community. We partake in setting up BBQs towards the end of the year, paintball , movie nights, Christmas parties and much more.

The Military Ball

Is a ceremonial dinner that is both social and military in nature, and it serves to bring the unit together.
Aside from the excellent food and camaraderie, the Ball includes a keynote military speaker, an awards ceremony, and cadet-created entertainment highlighting the year's events.

Dollar Bills

Finance Committee

The Finance committee is in charge of managing and allocating cadet funds, money raised by our cadets over the years through fundraising and volunteering events.

Representatives are chosen by their respective class (two per class), and during each meeting they discuss ways to raise money for our budget, as well as they decide whether to approve a certain amount of funds to enable events sponsored by the battalion.
