Physical Training (PT)

PT Standard

St. John's University ROTC provides three physical training sessions at St.John's. Those three days are from Tuesday-Thursday each session consists of one hour of physical training from 0600 to 0700 that is designed and executed by cadets under the direction of a cadre.

Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) 
Our program holds two Army Combat Fitness Test per semester, the first as a diagnostic test and the second for record. The ACFT consists of 3 Repetition Maximum Deadlift (MDL), Standing Power Throw (SPT), Hand-Release Push-up (HRP), Sprint- Drag-Carry (SDC), Leg Tuck (LTK), and 2 Mile Run (2MR). Standards for each event vary by age and gender, with a maximum score of 600 points on the standard scale.

Individual PT

St. John's ROTC encourages students to hold themselves accountable for their health and fitness. Cadets are expected to maintain excellent physical fitness as well as strive to max their physical tests. Here we have a plethora of cadets knowledgable in working out so for future cadets and current ones do not hesitate to ask for advice because you only get as much as you put in.

Additional PT Opportunities
In addition to Standard PT, the program also offers other PT opportunities. We have remedial for cadets struggling at PT and we are more than happy to help, these sessions are held on Monday and Friday from 0600 to 0700. The Ranger Challenge team also holds its own PT sessions to prepare for the Ranger Challenge competition.
