Leadership Labs

During the academic year, cadets participate in Leadership Labs typically held on a Wednesday afternoon. The MSIII class plans and conducts labs  with leading them to instruct the MSI (freshmen) and MSII (sophomore) classes on the various skills needed to become a tactical and proficient officer.

Fall:

Individual Movement Techniques (IMT): Cadets learn the fundamentals of individual movement, moving in buddy teams and squad and fire teams.

Land Navigation (LandNav): Cadets learn to use a compass and protractor to plot grid coordinates on a map and navigate to those points.

Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC): Cadets learn the three phases of TCCC include Care Under Fire, Tactical Field Care and Tactical Evacuation Care. As well as learn how to treat service members in the proper order and treat the most critical situations first.

Troop Leading Procedures: Cadets learn special training in the TLP, or Troop Leading Procedures. This is a sequence of actions that enable the commander or platoon leader to use available time effectively and efficiently in the planning, preparing, executing, and assessing of combat missions. We’re proud to offer this additional training to our students and equip them with the knowledge to be successful in their Army career.

Operations Order (OPORD): Cadets work on operation orders (OPORD) which is a guidance sent by the leader to his subordinates in order to carry out a certain activity in a coordinated manner. To arrange the briefing, ensure thoroughness, and help subordinate leaders understand and implement the order, a five-paragraph framework is employed.

Terrain Models: Cadets learn how to use a terrain model kit as a way of visualizing a procedure through the use of simple images and symbols. An Army terrain model kit can help you ensure that your subordinates comprehend your desired plan.

Squad Situational Training Exercise (SSTX): Cadets take part in a variety of assignments. MSIVs brief a Platoon-level Operations Order (OPORD) to MSIIIs, who are then in charge of formulating a Squad-level OPORD and carrying out the task. MSIIs serve as Fire Team leaders, while MSIs serve as riflemen.

Spring:

Patrolling Operations: The Patrolling lab assesses a cadet's ability to complete Patrolling missions by applying knowledge of IMT, LandNav, squad warfare drills, and collective chores.
