Combat Water Survival Assessment

Cadets study the principles of combat water survival, such as how to build an expedient flotation device.  They acquire confidence and water survival abilities. CWSA is held at Nassau County Aquatics Center Cadets. The following prerequisites must be successfully navigated by cadets: A 3-meter drop into water, blind folded and carrying a mock M-16 rifle, Swim 15 meters in uniform, with gear while keeping a mock M-16 rifle out of the water. Execute submerged equipment removal techniques. CWSA is also a commissioning requirement and teaches cadets survival techniques in the event of a water emergency.
